Emily & Drew - Somerset Wedding-Dillington House.
Some weddings are extra special, and this one was right up there. I’ve known Emily and Drew for quite a few years, and I was even lucky enough to photograph their surprise proposal (spoiler alert: she said yes!). So, when they asked me to capture their big day, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Their Somerset Wedding took place at Dillington Estate near Ilminster. Sadly, this gorgeous venue has since closed its doors, but it will always hold a soft spot in my heart for the memories we created there. And wow, what a day it was.
From the start, the atmosphere was relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter. Emily got ready in one of the estate’s beautiful rooms, light pouring in through those grand windows , a photographer’s dream. Meanwhile, Drew and his groomsmen perfected their ties and enjoyed a few nervous laughs and a can of Thatcher’s before the main event.
The ceremony was heartfelt, surrounded by family and friends, with the Somerset countryside as the backdrop. This was held a local church. One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is capturing those little in-between moments, the sideways glances, the cheeky smiles, the happy tears. This day was brimming with them.
After the “I do’s,” guests headed back to the venue for drinks and laughter, while we whisked Emily and Drew away for a few portraits. One of my bestest parts was the amazing split screen camper van they hired for the day! I always tell my couples: don’t worry about posing perfectly. Just be yourselves, enjoy the moment, and I’ll take care of the rest. These two nailed it.
As the evening rolled in, the speeches brought plenty of laughter (and maybe a few tissues on Drew’s part ), and the dance floor came alive. For me, it was pure joy to be part of it all.
If you’re planning your own Somerset Wedding, you can expect a day full of love, laughter, and little moments you’ll never forget – and I’d be delighted to capture them for you.
